Dear RFT Membership,
Last year was the RFT's 6Oth anniversary as a professional union. Former RHS teacher John Olekzsyk was an RFT president and institution in AFT Michigan. On the History page of this section of our site, you will find the inspiring words he wrote 10 years ago, but they are very appropriate for today. With "Race to the Top" and Mike Flannigan's "leadership" we should all be thankful to the people who created this union. I encourage you to read the rest of the 50th anniversary document, which you can also download on the History page. Some of the very struggles that those forefathers fought are being relived today.
